This project was a competition entry for a Forestry Department environmental learning center located at Kavo Greko, a dramatic open expanse that is part of an environmentally protected peninsula on the southeast coast of Cyprus.
The concept was meant as an architectural intervention that obtruded minimally upon the natural landscape, and therefore was conceived as an implant within the existing contours, the exception being the required cafeteria and observation deck. The design is further characterized by a pedestrian path, which is incised into the rocky landscape, and which terminates onto a lightweight viewing balcony suspended over the Mediterranean sea.
